Skiing:

• Squaw Valley Ski Area - Snooty, but good skiing
• Northstar at Tahoe - Family friendly resort.  Not the hardest runs.  Heavily groomed.  Best place to go when snow is poor.
• Alpine Meadows - Smaller, typically less crowded than some of the biggest slopes.  Good  intermediate runs.  My favorite place to start the skiing season
